This guy was just moved to our table a few hands ago and had been aggressive. I was planning to just limp here and call a raise, or possibly re-raise since I was out of position. Instead he just checked. Notice it's two big stacks (myself and him) and a short stack). I get a great flop for me. I check in order to induce the desperate short stack to push. I get him to bet, and then I put him all in. Then the BB/Big Stack comes over the top and puts me all in for 24,000 chips with both of us top 10 out of 180 players.
I think and put him on a BB special two pair or maybe the low set. Instead he has middle pair with no kicker and doubles up the short stack. He said he re-raised me all in because he knew I wouldn't put my tournament on the line. Am I out of line to say that he should have respected my raise and let me get out the short stack? *********** # 3 ************** PokerStars Game #2394509168: Tournament #11248550, Hold'em No Limit - Level VIII (200/400) - 2005/08/22 - 00:21:18 (ET) Table '11248550 100' Seat #9 is the button Seat 1: FGators26 (26330 in chips) Seat 2: OzCDN (27669 in chips) Seat 3: PokerDoctorr (18810 in chips) Seat 4: jumpman88 (15217 in chips) Seat 5: kingdueshy (13184 in chips) Seat 6: suffenta (21228 in chips) Seat 8: Nubs123 (1930 in chips) Seat 9: Real1076 (2394 in chips) FGators26: posts the ante 25 OzCDN: posts the ante 25 PokerDoctorr: posts the ante 25 jumpman88: posts the ante 25 kingdueshy: posts the ante 25 suffenta: posts the ante 25 Nubs123: posts the ante 25 Real1076: posts the ante 25 FGators26: posts small blind 200 OzCDN: posts big blind 400 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to FGators26 [Qh Kh] PokerDoctorr: folds jumpman88: folds kingdueshy: folds suffenta: folds Nubs123: folds Real1076: calls 400 FGators26: calls 200 OzCDN: checks *** FLOP *** [4h Qs Jd] FGators26: checks OzCDN: checks Real1076: bets 800 drewbiggs01 is connected FGators26: raises 1200 to 2000 OzCDN: raises 25244 to 27244 and is all-in Real1076: calls 1169 and is all-in FGators26: folds *** TURN *** [4h Qs Jd] [4s] *** RIVER *** [4h Qs Jd 4s] [Td] *** SHOW DOWN *** short stack doubles up with A J OZ had J 2 |

I'm not sure I would, probaly depends how loose the big stack has been playing and maybe the buyin. But I was just saying that some of your other posts have weak-tight vibes to them.
Just my 02 cents |

Just my 02 cents [/ QUOTE ] I try to model myself after Dan Harrington's books. And maybe a little of Hellmuth. I don't have much maniac in me, though the Mouth is one of my favorite players to watch. |

i don't really see knocking out the short stack as a concern with 180 people left still

he made a good play. [/ QUOTE ] I'm curious why you say that because I partially disagree. Short of the guy having a great read that the OP would fold to a push. I think his raise is excessive, puts his tournament on the line, and isn't something that would be indicative of a great hand (I.E. 44, JJ, J4, etc) |

why is it a jerk move if he outplayed you? unless you are at the final table and there is serious money on the line, there is no unspoken rule to gang up and eliminate the short stack.
