Posting the Big Blind

When I join a table, I really don't like to wait for most of an orbit before playing. So I post the BB. Unfortuately, I usually get tired and take a break after 60-90 minutes and then do the same thing when I play later in the day.

How much is this costing me over the long haul?

Funny, but I'm curious about the impact on the hourly win rate.

Obviously this depends on a lot of factors but if you do this once every 60-90 minutes and a good BB/hr rate for micros is 1-2 BB/hr you might be unnecessarily draining .5 BB every 60-90 minutes you do not have to. I'm too tired to try now but I'm sure you could filter PT to show how often you posted when not in SB, BB, or the CO and find out for sure any +/-EV.

Comments added in edit: I do not do this for the reason above. There are enough tables out there where you can take an extra 30 seconds to find an open seat where the blind will hit immed. or w/in 1-2 hands.

Calculate how much you make each hand by position in PT. That give you some theoretical idea of how much you loose by not waiting until yr utg hand. (You should be winner in every spot except the blinds, where no one wins.) Add this up and you should get yr number.

Thanks. It's probably not that big, but it must be enough to matter over the course of a year given that I do it so often.

I just noticed something weird in my stats. I only played about 35%-40% as many hands from the "7 from the blind" position as from all the other positions.

What could account for that?

Plus, is says I netted -$22 dollars from that position, but won .02BBs per hand. (I am winning very comfortably from everywhere else.)

What accounts for that?

Shorthanded tables. If a table is missing a few players it will who you having not played a hand x many places from the bb.

For yr other question, it's probably a combo of different limits and small sample size.

I'll post right after joining a table if it is in late position. If my seat is in middle or early, I'll wait.

My usual method is to post UTG, play one hand, then leave and find another table where I post UTG. Is this costing me money?
