100 dollars to start off with... What can I do with it?
So i've been playing poker for a lil bit, went from limit 1/2 games but left limit to play SnG's (10 and 20) to change it up a bit.. but because of a money situation i had to cash it all out ... so now im done with finals and its summer time and i'll be probably playing poker around 8 hours a day... I have 100 dollars right now in my party account and am gona start on the .50/1 tables...
does this seem like a decent idea? and what advice do you guys have for me to make the most of this money. |

its not a horrible idea...but with only 100BB your risk of losing it all is greater than if you had a proper bankroll...maybe start at .25/.50 till you get to $200 or so, then take a shot?

With such a small bankroll I would not stick with just 1 site. Become a bonus whore, your bankroll will grow much quicker that way

Re: 100 dollars to start off with... What can I do with it?
I started with 100 playing ONLY 25NL. A month later, I mixed in the 50NL after I hit about 750. A month after that, I was playing 100NL with 1500. The idea was to put $100 in to give it a shot and never spend another dime of my own money on poker, then move up whenever I have 15x the buy-in for the next level and move back down if I drop below 10x. Give yourself the best chance to succeed by starting at the smallest available level so you can play the maximum number of hands against the lowest quality opponents (and they are totally awful at 25NL). Collect bonuses as much as you can and play in freerolls to pad your roll. Nothing will kill you faster than playing over your bankroll. One bad beat at 100NL and you're finished.

Prop, lowest you can play is 1/2. If you don't hit a losing streak you will have a couple k in no time. Assuming you are a winning player of course. I started on there with 400, and in three months I have cashed out 18k and only maintain a 2k bankroll for up to 5/10.
Onlinepropping.com if you are interested. Sorry to post the site but it is easier than answering a bunch of PM's. |

seconded. very solid advice. [/ QUOTE ] Most of it seems OK, but I wouldn't copy the part about playing 25NL with only 4 buy-ins. |

[/ QUOTE ] The whole point here is what a person who is starting with a $100 deposit can do, not what is ideal given no constraints on initial funding or table size. I stand behind my advice to start with a SINGLE TABLE at the smallest table available (but not so small that you have more than 15 buy-ins). With $100, given the choice between 1, 5, 10, and 25NL I would choose 5NL, dropping to 1NL if I fell below $50 and bumping up to 10NL once I broke $150. However, many sites don't offer games smaller than 25NL so that's where I started. This is simply my way of doing things and it works very well for me. I always have a goal to strive towards that keeps me growing as a player and a circuit breaker to keep me in check. Your mileage may vary. M |
