greatest session ever?
I play with a bunch of friends in a home game at least once, if not twice a week. I'm certainly one of the better players there, but the success I had last week was incredible.
We normally play NL Hold'em, $3 max buy-in. I got to the party late from work, tossed my 3 bucks in and set to work. There were 6 other players there. Within 20 minutes, my stack was 8 bucks. After 2 hours of playing, I had built it up to $24. Of the seven of us there, I was the only one who had turned a profit. Four of the people lost at least their initial buy-in, while 2 bought back in several times. I've only been playing for about a year. (Thanks Chris Moneymaker) I'm just curious what your greatest session in a short amount of time is. I imagine octupling your buy-in in 2 hours ain't too shabby. |

Re: greatest session ever?
I had a shorthand session of 2/4 the other day on crypto where I went up 35BB in ~30 Hands. I also first hand bought in for 40BB at 1/2 to take down a 45BB pot I got up and left after 3 more hands cause I realised I was running late for class.

Re: greatest session ever?
My best session is bittersweet because it was immediateley followed by my worst session. I buy in very short, only 2 grand, at paradise poker's 40/80 table. For those of you that play this game, you can vouch on how much it swings. Im sitting 6 handed, and within 4 hours im staring at 20 k. I should have left. Feeling the rush and utter feeling of domination i stayed around and had one of the most incredible bad beat sessions of my life. Within two hours my stack dwindled to 7 grand. By this time it is about 3 oclock in the morning, i turn off the computer, contemplate jumping off a bridge, and have one the most restless sleeps in my life. I took a break for two weeks after that session, and was fortunate to take down 1st place in a 700 man multi table tourney on party poker the week i came back, slightly easing the biggest swing of my life.

Re: greatest session ever?
I suppose the no limit game will have more stories but in limit poker at the 4-8 level in an indian casino. I once turned $100 into $800. It helped that twice I won kill pots where the stakes went up to 8-16. I haven't come close to that kind of night before or since.

Re: greatest session ever?
We used to play a $5 buy in NL game with .25/.50 blinds (ridiculously huge blinds) in a home game. One night there were 8 players at the table, and a total of 19 buy ins on the table. (I only bought in once) I cahsed out every ship ont he table - $95. Up $90 which was 18 times my buy-in, and 180 big blinds in 2 hours.
