Just got SNGPT, am I getting this right?
I've been playing the 22s at Party for some time now and was trotting around at 10ish% ROI until I hit a nice downswing a day or two ago which put me down to almost break even over 500 tourneys. I've always had too few firsts and plenty of 5th-2nd places and I'm almost always shortstacked if I get ITM so my conclusion is that I'm way too weak/tight when I should be aggressive. I've known this for a while but after my downswing I finally got myself SNGPT and I've been playing around with it a bit today. I just want to see if I'm understanding things right.
I folded in all the following hands but SNGPT pretty much says push any two in all of them. Is this correct or am I using it in the wrong way? Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t100 (6 handed) converter BB (t1575) UTG (t1082) MP (t1775) Hero (t340) Button (t1348) SB (t1880) Preflop: Hero is CO with 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 2 folds, Hero pushes? Looks right, and I agree with all these pushes.
Congratulations on locating a major leak! |

This would be a lot more interesting if you stated your opponent calling assumptions for each hand.
I won't comment on the $22's because it's been too long since I played them, but some of these hands certainly look debatable to me. eastbay |

Re: Just got SNGPT, am I getting this right?
First hand, if I put calling ranges to maniac on all three remaining players it looks close and if one of them is a bit tighter it should be a push.
In the second hand should be a push with any two even if BB calls with top 50% which I think is much looser than he will be. Third hand I used maniac for both players. Fourth hand I used maniac for both players. Maybe I should not use the templates and make my own instead? |

Hand 2
1,3 and 4 are pushes for me too.
In the second hand I would call a push with any 2 as BB (villain). And I am "reasonably tight"... - I think BB has to be a very tight monkey for this to be a good push. |

Maybe I should not use the templates and make my own instead? [/ QUOTE ] I play the 11s and maniac isn't maniacal enough for some players. Look at the hands you're being called with and incorporate them into a custom one. I use the built-in ones for quick checkups, but often also check against any 2 (*) and my custom range to get a better feel for the push. |

Re: Just got SNGPT, am I getting this right?
I think the only one that might be debatable is the second one. Eastbay is correct, calling ranges are very important here. But with the sizes of the blinds, a hand like Q4s on the button looks *very* appealing right now for example.

Re: Just got SNGPT, am I getting this right?
nice purchase...it's already found some leaks of yours and will help you immensely...
hand 1: blinds are almost 50% of ur stack...push hand 2: blinds are 1/3 your stack...also, you'll still have 450 if you get called and lose...if you fold, you give up ev by letting shorty have another half his stack in blinds... hand 3: again, blinds are almost 50% of your stack....push hand 4: see hands 1/4 |
