What would you do?
15 people left in a 300-entry poker tournament, NL Hold'em.
Hero is on button with 12000 chips, others range from 5-40000 in chips. UTG limps in with blinds at 1600, everyone folds to Hero who raise, around 3000 with A9s, BB re-raises 3000, UTG and Hero calls. Flop is A47 where 47 is of same suit as hero. BB goes all in.... UTG goes all in.... Hero does what? (BB and UTG initially had around 11-13000 chips each) |

Re: What would you do?
call you are getting good odds especially because hitting your kicker should be 3 extra outs, plus there is a small chance you have the best hand.

I don't think I could live with myself if I folded here.

Re: What would you do?
What you really need to rethink is your preflop play. You have 7.5x bb. If you decide to play a hand you absolutely must push preflop. A9s is a decent hand short handed on the button, but another player with a short stack has limped utg which doesn't bode well for you because he likely has a big ace or a medium to large pair and is trying to get action with it. So unless this player is limping every hand, you need to fold preflop.

Re: What would you do?
I admit that I should re-think my preflop play on that hand.
The outcome: Hero went all in - BB was sitting on pair of aces, UTG AK and Hero missed the flush and was knocked out Lesson learned, but if I would have raised more I still think I'd be in the same seat, but I didn't thnink I had any options but to call once I was commited. Thanks for your replies! |

Re: What would you do?
well spotted - speed typing not always good - UTG KQ not AK

Re: What would you do?
(blind response)
at this stage of the tournament with half your stack in the pot already leaving you less than 4BB this is an easy call. You have top pair and a flush draw. Your kicker is not terrible, and you could be ahead right now to a lower pair, and you could still improve without hitting your flush to the pot. I think that you should have played more aggressively PF with this hand given that the blind levels are as significant as they are. If you play this type of hand you need to push it PF and take your chances with it. |

Re: What would you do?
It's a good thing you didn't post the results because if you folded I'd take a running chainsaw to my own neck.
