Default Phil Ivey\'s Story

Anybody know what Phil Ivey's story is? By that I mean, how did he get so good at such a young age? How longs he been playing? Where'd he start out? etc...

If you search, it is out there.

Essentially, he snuck into Atlantic City pokerrooms in his teens with a fake ID and was a regular. when he turned 21, he rubbed their face in it a little by presenting his actual ID and real name. Otherwise, I assume he is just a dedicated, intelligent player.

That could have been when he was still in grade school.

once upon a time i played a low buyin stud tourny at the trop and for a while was sitting next to him, before he was well know. i seem to recall lasting a bit longer than he. anywho, wow, what different paths we took.

I wouldn't say he rubbed their face in it -

they all knew him by name as jerome and finally he had to come clean and say..."uh, my name isn't jerome, it's Phil, sorry" and they said they suspected but could never prove it - all was forgiven -

Nice security. "We can't prove this kid is under 21, so c'mon in." Please. Now that poker is so popular and they don't have to take all the business they can get, I wonder if they will actually have to enforce/abide by those laws.
