Pacific Poker .25/.5....no reads I've just joined table....Hero is UTG with
A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Preflop: Hero raises. Everyone folds to CO who calls, Button calls, SB calls, BB 3-bets, Hero, CO, Button, SB call. Flop[K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]] BB bets, Hero folds... I was figuring, I have one overcard and a backdoor flush draw.......it is worth it to continue here??? I hated getting 3-bet on the preflop.....should I have just limped on the preflop given my position? Thanks for the comments. I hope I'm not posting too much....... Jim |

You're getting 16-1. At that price even a three-out draw is worth calling for, and you have that in your overcard and backdoors. Since BB was the aggressor, you can probably safely assume it won't be raised behind you.
Call and drop on the turn if you don't catch an A, Q, J, maybe a T (it's probably no good, though), or a diamond. |

Grunch.
Fold preflop UTG. If it is a passive table and you are pretty sure you'll have six to a flop regardless of raises, then I'd limp in here. You definitely don't need to be making people fold. On the flop you are getting 16-1 pot odds. The backdoor flush is worth 1.5 outs, probably discount the ace to 1.5 (although that might be high). I raise this hand, calling a 3-bet and folding the turn unless an ace or a card that helps our draw comes out. Depending on how passive BB is, this could buy you a free turn card. |
