Hotels in AC
What's the best way to go about finding a cheap hotel room in Atlantic City for a weekend night? I'm thinking of going in this Saturday and wanted to use my Taj points to get a room (I've actually been playing there for 2 years and have never used my points for anything other than a cheesesteak and that was only once!) but I guess those rooms have long been booked. Any advice or directing me to a thread that already has this information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Hotels in AC
I usually just go to Orbitz and pick a cheap hotel near a casino that I plan to play at. Since I don't do anything in the room other than sleep I don't really mind too much staying in a dump.

Re: Hotels in AC
"but I guess those rooms have long been booked...." Did you call? Is that what they told you? Taj is stingy with reduced rate rooms for poker players. They want you to pay full price. I'll bet Taj will never reveal the actual number of poker rate rooms they book, because it's probably very few.

Yeah, I got a "Friday, Saturday, Sunday - all booked, nothing I can do. Sorry." Then immediately she hung up. Frustrating.

Re: Hotels in AC
I often play 75-150 at Taj and can rarely if ever get a Saturday night room. It is next to impossible. Perhaps it will change when their new tower (1000 rooms is built)...who knows? I think they save their weekend poker rate rooms for people that go EVERY weekend and play the absolute biggest games (some 75-150, 150-300 or some huge game). You have to be very persistent and call and call and call. Don't leave a message. Keep calling.

Re: Hotels in AC
the taj is impossible. A nice hotel right near there that is suprisingly clean and on the strip is the Best Western "envoy Inn" As for the drive to absecon (rt.30) super 8 is cheap and pretty clean. Orbitz will save you around 10 dollars. I have never not once got the weekend poker rate at the taj and I have tried and tried. so good luck with that.

Re: Hotels in AC
I play 75/150 at the Taj and had never gotten a room on the weekend until last july 4th. Amazingly on both Fri and Sat night they came by the high limit section and ASKED everyone if they needed a room...this happening twice in a row is about as likely as getting rolled As twice in a row;-) I have found that if you book something like 2 months in advance you can get a room. Otherwise I usually just go to any cheap place on Black Horse Pike in Absecon in the middle of the night...there is always a room at one of the 30 or so motels there.

Re: Hotels in AC
Avoid the Comfort Inn in Abescon. They put over $500 in "authorizations" on my credit card, for a one night $54 stay. (Those "authorizations" are dropped after a few days, but during the meanwhile, they show as "charges".)
