Unimproved AK improves
Party 10/20. I have just sat down in the BB. UTG posted a blind. This is all I know of anyone.
I get AKo. UTG (poster) checks, Button calls, SB completes. I raise, they call. Flop: 8 5 5 rainbow. SB checks, I bet, UTG (poster) raises, button times out and is considered all-in, SB folds. I call. Turn: K, completing the rainbow. 1) How did I do so far? 2) What's my line now? Ta very much gents. Guy. |

Re: Unimproved AK improves
Looks like an 8. Check raising the turn seems pretty easy.

Re: Unimproved AK improves
It's a toughy.
If opponent has an 8, a bet may make him fold, as you raised from BB pf. If opponent has a 5, you are drawing pretty thin, and a bet will see a raise here. You could go for a c/r here, but again, an 8 may fold to the raise, and a 5 will 3-bet you. Without a good read (vs a poster on a paired board), I would go for the c/c turn and bet river. |

How did I do so far? [/ QUOTE ] I don't think your line is debatable. It's standard. [ QUOTE ] What's my line now? [/ QUOTE ] I bet out the turn. If I'm raised, I call and check/call the river. ___1___ |

Re: Unimproved AK improves
I would bet to ensure it doesn't get checked through. If you do get the checkraise in, utg might fold his J8 or whatever that he might have called down with. Also, you save some if UTG has a 5.

Re: Unimproved AK improves
You've done fine so far.
I would bet the turn against an unknown. The checkraise is pretty risky after you've improved your hand in such an obvious way. Another reason to bet is the disconnected player will also discourage UTG from continuing any bluff he might be running. You cannot stop UTG from folding a 2-outer like 77 or T8. But realize that in the long run that is a poor play on his part assuming you sometimes bet AQ/AJ here. |

Re: Unimproved AK improves
Without a read this is tough, but I will often take a check call bet line, as you dont really have to worry about free cards here, and your hand is pretty transparent so if you try to check raise, or bet out so will often fold two outers.
