Preflop reraising
0.25/0.5 NL, 8 player tables. Hero and Villain both have 100bb stacks.
Hero has TA image. Villain is 20/10/2 and seems to be solid. Hero have AKo on the button. Villain in the CO, who raises 10% of his hand total, raises first in to 4*bb. * How much should we re-raise? 12bb total? * What do we think is his range of hands if he calls our re- raise? * How likely is a CB to work if he calls? Seems unlikely to me. * If villain opens from seat 5 instead do we still re-raise? * If villain opens from seat 5 and has a PFR of 7% instead, do we still re-raise? |

Re: Preflop reraising
Suprn,
12bb is good. should work more than 2/3 of the time unless he has a big hand... it does not matter where villain opens from, raise to eliminate smooth callers & for value. pfr 7% I still find a re-raise, if he comes over the top I muck, happily. |

Re: Preflop reraising
How big should a typical preflop re-raise be?
Let's say villain raises to 4$ how much more do you raise him? 2 times his bet? 8$ more, 12$ total? 2,5 times his bet? 10$ more, 14$ total? 3 times his bet? 12$ more, 16$ total? What should I think about when deciding how large my re-raise should be? |

[/ QUOTE ] Generally, you make a pot-sized reraise. blinds: 1.5bb his raise: 4bb If you call the raise, pot size if 4+4+1.5 = 10.5bb. So a pot-sized raise is 10.5 more, so make it 14.5bb to go. So anything in the range 12-18 is a normal raise. less than that and it is pretty much a minraise, more is an overbet. Both have their places. |

Re: Preflop reraising
If a solid player calls a potsized reraise, what range of hands do you put him on?
What about a stranger? |

9.5? Do we fold if villain comes over the top again? [/ QUOTE ] Against sane villains, yes. Most players won't put in a 3rd bet preflop with QQ or AK. |

Re: Preflop reraising
Id normally make it $10-12 more for villain to see the flop. Assuming $100 stacks, you have cut down on villains' implied odds if he then decides to play something like 88/99/TT for set value.
Too many times I've been stacked holding premium pairs when my preflop re-raise has not been big enough . Ojo_Rojo |
