Wow. Thanks for those links. Comments:

Annie Duke was right, even though she sounds somewhat less than gracious in her remarks. Those are inexplicable calls made against her.

Phil. Uh, Phil. Whatever. He made "historic laydowns." Great. Except they were wrong because he didn't properly adjust for the diminished expertise level of the average player in the tournament. Not very psychic, Phil.

Amir. Speak English. Couldn't listen. maybe I'll get a transcript.

And Dutch. Oh my. I hate to admit it, but I thought he came across OK. His MM comments were classy, the general demeanor of his Pokerspot comments was acceptable, I thought he was all right. Except, of course, for the very end, when he was giving "shout-outs" to his "crew" and the such.

Vegas, we have a problem. Dutch going down. Check melanin levels! Check melanin levels!

I disagree with this interpretation, I think the point he was making is that he could afford to throw these hands away because he felt that he was playing well enough to get the guys later, which he did.

I don't think he was saying how great it is to fold those, just that he was playing well enough that playing them wasn't a big issue.

thank you lori i was beginning to go crazy over how many people just berate phil hellmuth just to jump on the wagon. I mentioned in anoth post that he came off i think fine in the interview which is good for him.

To those of you who want to shoot down the anni dukes and phil's for your interpretation of whinning shame on you. These people are at work and didnt succeed so yeh, they let off a little steam about the lesser players. If anything it should be more desirable for small time players to now think they have a shot in major tournies cause of the pro's comments eventually it will all average out and the better players will rise.

Yes, it's true that part of Phil's point was that he had an overall edge and could therefore make bigger laydowns because he could outplay the table, etc., and it is further true that the observation was spot-on and not out of line.

But he used the word historic, and I found that typically Phil-annoying. This is my personal opinion, and I am entitled to it. If it happens to share traits with the aint-Phil crowd, hey, sorry.

But I'm not on a bandwagon, thanks.

I don't know where you work, but I would not be amused by any employee at my job supposedly making fun of incompetent workers under them, claiming that is the reason they can't do their job.

If this sounds awkward, it's because the job metaphor doesn't work. Whining is weak. Period.
