Staying aggressive with aces + low draw
I think I overplayed this hand. My read on seat 5 was that he succumbed to short-stack syndrome and was raising up two pair at best rather than rolled-up tens. But, seat 4 probably has me beat for high at that point, or else has four to a flush--- slow down or jam?
I didn't slow down until 5th, but at that point I may have the best low draw so maybe I should have kept jamming... 7 Card Stud High-Low ($1/$2), Ante $0.25, Bring-In $0.50 (converter) Seat 2: $35.00 Seat 3: $36.75 Seat 4: $44.50 Seat 5: $14.50 Seat 7: $72.00 Hero: $108.25 3rd Street - (1.50 SB) Seat 2: xx xx A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___Raise___Raise Seat 3: xx xx 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___Fold Seat 4: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___Bring-in___Call___Call Seat 5: xx xx T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___Call___Call___Call Seat 7: xx xx J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]___Fold Hero: A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___Raise___Raise___Call 4th Street - (17.50 SB) Seat 2: xx xx A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___Check___Call___Call Seat 4: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___Bet___Raise Seat 5: xx xx T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]___Raise___Call Hero: A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___Raise___Call 5th Street - (16.75 BB) Seat 2: xx xx A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___Check___Fold Seat 4: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___Check___Call___Call Seat 5: xx xx T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___Bet___Raise Hero: A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___Raise___Call 6th Street - (25.75 BB) Seat 4: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___Call Seat 5: xx xx T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___Bet All-in ($0.25) Hero: A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]___Raise River - (27.88 BB) Seat 4: xx xx 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] xx___Bet___Call Seat 5: xx xx T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] xx___All-in Hero: A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]___Raise Total pot: (31.88 BB) Results: Pot: $51.25 | Side pot 1: $11.50 | Rake: $1 Seat 4: bet $20.25, collected $31.50, net +$11.25 (showed hand) [ 4c Qh 4s Qs 8h 9h 4h ] HI: a full house, fours full of queens Seat 5: lost $14.50 (showed hand) [ 5d Tc Td 5s 7c Kc 4d ] HI: two pair, tens and fives Hero: bet $20.25, collected $31.25, net +$11 (showed hand) [ Ad Ah 6c 2c 7h 5h Qc ] LO: 7,6,5,2,A HI: a pair of aces |

Re: Staying aggressive with aces + low draw
if you think aces up have a good chance of winning high, then i'd jam it every street.

I think I overplayed this hand. [/ QUOTE ] You think wrong. In fact you should have capped fifth. |

Re: Staying aggressive with aces + low draw
With an Ace gone, I would go ahead and complete it on third, but when that Ace raises, I think I just call and see what happens. I'm not looking for a huge multi-way pot with a dead hand. Capping isn't terrible by any means, though. I don't see any particular reason to take your foot off the gas on fifth. Nice hand.
