Speeding ticket! Any auto insurance adjuster that can help?
So I got a speeding ticket the other day. No biggie, 57 in a 40. $90.
I've never had a ticket before and was in one wreck several years ago. I currently pay ~$60 a month for my auto insurance. How likely is it that my insurance will go up because of this ticket? Is it worth spending a bit more to get an attorney to avoid the points against my license? Thanks in advance for any advice. Burno |

Re: Speeding ticket! Any auto insurance adjuster that can help?
was the accident more than 3 years ago?
Who is your Insurance company? Most major insurance companies won't jack you if the accident you had was more than 3 years ago. I think you might be sweating this a little too much. Points on your license don't mean much unless you plan on speeding a whole lot more. If I had to guess, I'd say your insurance might go up $5 a month or something for a little while. Nothing major. |

Since the accident was more than 3 years ago, you should be just fine. I am not an insurance adjustor or anything, but if your insurance goes up more than a few bucks a month after years of clean driving, I'd be tempted to switch companies. Do you plan on paying the fee or are you going to go to court for it? If you take the court route, chances are the issuing officer won't show. If they do show, you will have options available like a defensive driving course in lieu of points off your license, etc. No worries man, you're not gonna get reamed. Don't know where you live, but in Kansas you can double the fine and the ticket does not appear on your driving record. If you want to be really safe this may be an option.

Dead serious. You can do it only if you have not had a ticket in the last 12 months. You appear the day your fine is due, the clerk will actually ask everyone in the court room if they would like this option, and they proceed to the window. Also can't be 20 miles or more over (I think, I know there is a speed limitation).

[/ QUOTE ] I'm next door in MO(I guess we can still be friends), and I don't know if this is an option here. While I'd definitely go for something like that, it seems like a terribly unjust way to do things. I just imagine multi-millionaires blowing stop signs and treating school zones like the Autobahn. |
