Vegas 5/10nl
I know this is a silly question and the answer is, "it depends," but in general how much of a step up is 5/10nl from 2/5nl? I've played lots of 1/2nl and a decent amount of 2/5nl and 5/5nl and I beat both comfortably.
Let me try phrasing it this way. Is the step up from 2/5nl to 5/10nl bigger or smaller than the step up from 1/2nl to 2/5nl? Also, which vegas casinos regularly spread 5/10nl besides Bellagio? Which games are capped/uncapped? Thanks. |

With that being said, don't sit with less than 2K at any 5/10NL game in vegas but you should really have ~5K in front of you. |

[/ QUOTE ] This is from someone who is nowhere near these stakes (yet) so i could be wrong, but wouldn't this make sitting with $500 or so and playing super tight, almost short stack strategy pretty profitable? Plus, if you are thinking of moving up, this might be more comfortable a transition |

[/ QUOTE ] no, you do not want to buy short in a big game...take it from me...you buy in for 500 in a 5/10NL game, stacks are as big as 10K, avg stack is 2.5-3K. you pick up AA on the button, super 10K maniac in EP makes it 200 to play. 2 callers and you have 500, obviously you push but against this type of game, chances are your AA is only a slight fav...this is just a very rudementary example why it's not smart. |

Re: Vegas 5/10nl
The thing with 5/10 is that, despite the occasional exceptions, you won’t win with simple tight straightforward play. If you’ve been playing tight and then push your $500 stack after a raise and a re-raise, nearly everyone will (correctly) put you on QQ+. You need to do more than wait for good hands and then value bet them against donks; unlike 1/2 and many 2/5’s.

Re: Vegas 5/10nl
MGM and Wynn generally spread it on weekends and sometimes on weekdays. Neither has a cap on the buy-in. I would say that 5/10 is a big step up from 2/5. Most people buy in for a grand; buying in for 5k is only necessary if you want to cover most/everyone at the table.
