Laying Down KK preflop?
I don't have a hand history for this (played on PokerRoom)
Relevent Stacks: UTG+1: $3.75 MP2: $32.00 Hero(CO): $34.25 Hero Dealt Kd Ks Action: UTG+1 raises to $1 folded to MP2 who RR to $3.75 Hero re-RR to $10 UTG+1 calls all in. MP2 raises pot all-in. Hero:...? MP2 had been playing pretty weak-tight, never showing this much preflop action since I'd been at the table. UTG+1 doesn't bug me at all, he'd taken a bad beat a few hands earlier and had been kinda happy to bet his remaining stack since then. I'd been playing somewhat loose with selective agression. I was prepared to call, but then I stopped for a moment on a premonition. This guy was just playing too assuredly preflop for a weak-tight player. I considered that he maybe had KK as well, but that seemed unlikely, and even then I'm not as sure he would have played THIS agressively. I ended up folding, but since UTG+1 was all-in, I got to see if I was right or wrong. Anyone have thoughts about throwing away KK preflop? |

Re: Laying Down KK preflop?
Good point: Does anybody have poker-tracker data for the frequency that an all-in 3 bettor has something other than AA? I did a quick search of my database. I could not find a single time where I had raised or re-raised with AA or KK and then had another player raise again all-in with any hand other than AA or KK. However my database is small, about 20K hands.

Re: Laying Down KK preflop?
I've got plenty over 75k hands. Admittedly, there were more than a few short stacks. Most all others were JJ-AA and AK. I think maybe one or two had AQ or AJ.
I think point to make is that if you are losing money over 25k hands or so with KK, it isn't because you keep running into AA. You have other problems to address. Last week I had two villains 3-bet me all-in w/out KK when I had AA. |

I pushed and to my suprise(delight) the first re-raiser called too. re-raiser had TT, pusher had QQ. Of course this hand I had 2 of the aces from the deck, but still this stuff happens all the time with hands worse then KK. |

Re: Laying Down KK preflop?
That is true but it is not the point. The point is are you loosing money those times you call an all-in re-raise with KK?

Re: Laying Down KK preflop?
No.
There's an FAQ for a reason. Namely, that people ask "Shoudl I have laid down KK pre-flop" all the time. The answer is always "No." |

Re: Laying Down KK preflop?
At these stakes, 3-handed, I don't think I would ever lay this down.
