Default Will Be In Tunica April 8th-10th

My buddies and I are coming down to Tunica for the weekend to hopefully get some more bankroll for Vegas next month. I will mainly be playing at Gold Strike or Sam's town probably 4/8 or 1/2 NL.

I am 24, but look a little older and have a long goatee.

I will also be wearing dark shades and all my WPT gear ready for some low limit action....yes, all of this paragraph is a joke!

Anyway, would like to hear from some of the crafty veterns down there as will probably play the weekend tourney at the Gold Strike. Also, in case anybody is wondering there is some charity tournament going on at The Grand for $100 and the prize a seat at the Main Event..anybody else hear anything about this?

I think it has a "reverse overlay" in that a signficant chunk of the prize pool is being pulled out and donated to chairity. When this was explained to me last weekend at the table, I immediately replied "[censored] the children" which got a good laugh from the rest of the table.

I heard ALL the entry fee goes to a charity and the rebuy and add on money goes to the prize pool.

I might make it down this weekend, but if I do I'll only be playing at the Horseshoe. I want to try the $200 tournament they're starting up this weekend, and then make my buyin back at the 10/20 tables after I bust out early.

I'm just going on my memory, stuff people say here, and when I go to one of the casinos I look around for what's coming up.

Default Changes at Horseshoe and tourney info

I work at Horseshoe. We'll be having tourneys more frequently starting the weekend your coming to town. Friday at 11am and Saturday and Sunday at 12 noon we have $230 freezeout tourneys. We also have a $65 buy-in with $40 re-buys and add-ons on Mondays and Thursdays at 7pm and the same tourney on Tuesdays at 11am. Coming soon look for a Omaha H/L tourney on Wednesday nights and a ladies tourney on Sunday evening.

Yesterday we started the transition from the "old" poker room to a new and much improved room in the back of the casino. We're operating a 14 table makeshift room outside the soon to be construction area for the new room that started today. The new room will be the best around by far with 16 tables, a computerized list, pagers for those on the list, plazma screen T.V's, a brand new full service multi-window cage within the room, and to top it off the snack bar is moving right along with us. You can judge for yourself but I'm sure you'll find we have the best dealers, the best selection of games and by far the best food and most liberal comps. Let me know what you think and if theres anything I can do send me a PM.

Holy Crap! That does indeed sound pretty awesome. look forward to checking it out sometime.

I knew you guys were moving the poker-room but wasn't aware of the other improvements that were in store.

As you know...I'm not much into live play. But I have been getting the itch to try it out again (had some enjoyable ring-game fun on the PPM IV cruise even though the 6/12 and 10/20 tables weren't treating me very well).

might make it down sometime this week perhaps (then again, maybe not...who knows?).
will keep an eye out for you if I go.

Chip777 does speaketh the truth regarding the food-comps and quality dealers there btw. The ONLY reason I play at the Gold Strike is when I deem the wait-lists to be too long at the Shoe.
Otherwise, the Shoe is my preference by far

haven't played at the Grand in forever.
Played at Hollywood once and will likely not be going back.

Never played poker at Sam's Town before so can't really comment... but wouldn't be totally against giving it a try sometime. Of course...they just had some sort of electrical fire there and the whole place had to be evacuated so I might think twice about that idea.
