Assuming that my opponent is a maniac with the following characteristics:
1) Literally never folds the flop heads up 2) Literally never folds the turn heads up 3) Is virtually guaranteed to raise at some point postflop heads up 4) Bets when checked to 100% of the time on any street 5) Literally shows down every King high or better heads up My standard operation procedure when I have raised preflop and I am out of position with an unimproved Ace high is to autobet the flop and then check call both the turn and river against this guy. I sure feel like a moron paying off with A2, but folding seems like it would be criminal. Am I correct here? Thanks, Cartman |

i believe you are correct. [/ QUOTE ] I think so too. I like a hand with a little more high card power...like A4o Seriously though, we just have to showdown this type of guy to death for value. If c/cing all 3 streets is what it takes, do it. Surf |

I might just c/c the flop/turn/river. Please explain your reasoning for a flop bet.

This guy will raise with so much #%@$ on the flop that we almost welcome the raise. The combined chances that our hand is in front and that we will hit one of our pair outs makes this a value bet in my opinion. Just like on a 2236 board for instance I would also bet the turn with AK. He is foaming at the mouth to raise this turn regardless of his cards so you bet and call down, basically inducing a bluff raise often enough that it finances the times he actually does have you beat and you fail to pass him on the river. (Thanks Jeff W, ALL1N, and others for pointing this out to me). Cartman |

Sounds about right to me. I see no reason in folding absolutely anything with showdown value.

I know it feels like spewing, but against this opponent check-raise, check-raise, check-call unimproved seems like the best plan with ace high.

One of these days I will grab some balls and extract some real value from these guys like you suggest. Against an essentially random hand, you are right. I should probably be willing to go all in on the flop with Ace high. Cartman |
