Pre-internet: what did people do at the office all day?
Any of you work in an office pre-inernet days? What did you do all day?

Re: Pre-internet: what did people do at the office all day?
Every job I've had since I was 18 has involved sitting in front of a computer with Internet access. Kind of sad that I can't even imagine doing 8 solid hours of nonstop work. As for what people did pre-Internet, I guess shoot the bull with each other, talk to wife/girlfriend on phone, etc. I could ask my dad, who has worked in offices for the past 30 years. Recently, though, even he has been online a lot at work.

Read newspaper/magazine, listen to walkman, daydream, can always find ways not to do work.
