Sooted and Booted, 5/10NL
5/10NL, full ring, I have $1150, Villain covers. Villain is ~27/4/3, I haven't noticed him much beyond this hand.
Villain limps in MP2, I make it $40 in LP with 87 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], folded back to villain who calls. Flop ($95) : T82 (rainbow, one [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]) He checks, I bet $60, he c/r to $175... I don't think he has a set here; I put him on a PP (trying to take it away) or a T, possibly an oesd. I call. Turn ($445): K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] He leads for $275... |

Re: Sooted and Booted, 5/10NL
pretty easy push right?
What if you hadn't picked up the [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] redraw on the turn? |

Re: Sooted and Booted, 5/10NL
is the push worth it here? Why not just call, youre getting the odds to call and there is only one card to come.

Re: Sooted and Booted, 5/10NL
push might represent AK? or would a call be better?

Re: Sooted and Booted, 5/10NL
Fold on the flop. This makes it much easier for you obviously, because the key card-the diamond-came for you on the turn and now your in a big dillema. Obviously you have outs, but when he fires 275 on the turn and you only got around 800 left..he is not folding much here. You smoke too much crack to think you have fold equity on somebody slow playing aces here. Nobody is folding aces for that price the way it was played out. When he leads on the turn like that you are putting too much money in the pot. I think you have to assume a flush is your only out. An 8 or a 7 on the river will get you broke a lot. If i was to call the raise though, and hit my diamond draw onthe turn, i'd say pushing is waaaay better than just flat calling 275 here...at least give yourself 2 chances to win.

Me likey push turn. [/ QUOTE ] What do people generally think about raising strongly instead of pushing in these sorts of situations? Admittedly, this hand has realatively shallow stacks, and a raise much smaller than push doesn't makes sense. BUT In general, I guess I just don't like pushing with things other than big draws, so it seems awful conspicuous when I suddenly overbet push on a drawey board. Should I be overbet pushing more with other hands, or is there a significant amount of value with normal-raising [say, pot-sized] with a big draw, especially if you're willing to put in all of your chips if put to that decision? This probably gets pretty complicated pretty fast [do you bluff river if he calls? in which case, you're much more likely to be dedicating more chips drawing dead.. but if you can get away from it on the river, you're dedicated less chips when you're a dog, and what if he reads you for a draw and can muck to scare cards, and if you're a favorite on the flop, you want to get as much money in as possible while you're a favorite; you want a call, blah blah blah.], but I'm curious how many people frequently semi-bluff big draws with less-than-all-in bets. Input? =] |

I don't like a push at all. It is obvious you do not have a king in your hand.

[/ QUOTE ] Yeh but most opponents wont realize this when they are holding a 10 or whatever and will view the k as a scare card, even though it is a brick. I think this makes a push a viable option, calling is fine too as you have position. |
