Started playing 15-30 on Party. Games are mostly really good.
Anyway, I'm dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG +1. UTG calls, I raise, loose MP and button call, as does UTG. Both blinds fold. Four see this flop: Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG bets, I raise, a cold call from MP, a threebet from the button. UTG calls and I cap. Four still in. Turn is: [Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. UTG checks and I bet. Call, call and UTG raises. I just call as do MP and the button. River is: [Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Checked around. Comments? |

I think you played the hand perfectly. On the turn, I'd be concerned that UTG has KQ, but the pot is so large I don't see how you can fold. I'd feel very good about this hand once it gets checked around on the river.

Looks great - but given how passively MP and the button played the turn, don't you figure to have them beat on the river blank? And would you not expect UTG to have KcJc or AcKc and pay off one more bet?

I think UTG has KQ and Button has a moderate flush draw. that being said, there's no way you can fold here.

Of course my hand was good. UTG had K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]; the others didn't show.
I was so worried about another check-raise that I checked the river. I was still nervous about KQ as I thought one of the others had the club draw. The game was good, but then suddenly seven players left almost simultaneously. I wound up giving back a lot of my win in shorthanded play. I think the problem was too much Q2o play. |

Utg is not checking a hand that beats aces on the river. The 8 helps no one. Bet the river.

Preflop: No brainer
Flop: With the bettor on your immediate right, I would wait until the turn to raise to better protect your hand. Turn: UTG responds to your cap raise with a check-raise? Yeah, I think 3-betting here would be overplaying it. River: Huh? UTG has you spooked? I'm guessing a missed flush draw, but I'd have a hard time not to value bet here with the intent to fold to another check-raise by UTG, especially if others are calling behind. Grade: B- Garland |

Sigh. I totally agree with Garland, somewhere along the way you should have def waited untill the turn to raise. You should certainly bet the river and that isn't close.

UTG has a hand like KcTc and button has AQ or QJ. Bet the river. UTG isn't checking if he beats aces and button would have raised again on the turn if he beats aces.

i wonder how many would have said "def bet the river" if he hadn't posted that it was checked around
