Empire 200 NL full ring. I have $260. My 3 opponents have $107 (32/11/1.6), $307 (28/3/2.5), $197 (17/4/1)
I get A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in late position. 3 limps and I make it $12. The 3 aforementioned players call. Flop ($50) (4 players) is A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] All 3 players check to me and I push. I figure if I bet the pot I'm pretty much committed except maybe against the big stack. Comments? |

Why do you think a gigantic overbet is better than a pot sized bet?

I guess I figure there's a good chance that someone has a high diamond and I want to make them pay full price to see their flush?
And, if I pot it and someone raises, am I not committed against anyone but the big stack? Perhaps I figured in the back of my mind that I wasn't getting away from the hand no matter what so that's why I pushed.... I dunno I'm starting to think this push was a mistake, though. |

Betting the pot still gives a single Diamond incorrect odds. It also doesn't push out a single Diamond that you WANT calling your pot sized bet. Betting all in here will more often than not fold out the hands you want calling. Meanwhile, it keeps in everything you want folding.

Fair enough. I think you are right.
Now if someone comes over the top what's your play? Do you call? |

That's player dependant. I really don't think checking behind on flop and getting active on blank turn is bad either.

I think slightly over pot here is fine. I think Ryan's primary thinking here is that the only hands he's worried about calling him here are Jd10d and AA or KK which is unlikely considering the cards and the board. So it's doubtful that many hands are going to have him beat here. The major problem is having having a good enough read if someone decides to come over the top here, but again, I think if someone does in this situation you are likely beat and can let the hand go because Qd appears to be a longshot to be in this hand, all though QQ is a possible holding. Bad play Ryan. But I will still give you a hug to make you feel better k? |

Nobody, but I figured that the pot was now so big that I just wanted to take it down.

this is a good way to lose a stack to a slowplayed flush.
