Re: a \"mildly interesting\" 98o hand
you called 2 cold with the intention of folding unless you hit one of 8 unknown cards, several of which are likely to be in other people's hands and the 3 queens arent really good for you. if you completely discount another player having an 8, you're getting 6-1 on the turn call have 7 outs of 46 unseen to take down the pot with decent implied odds. it seems like a marginal decision and i might fold simply because anything but the case 8 can get expensive. in a very loose passive game i think it's an EV neutral call.

hey nbanker, I called 2 bets one at a time on the turn. My bad if the turn action is hard to read.

Re: a \"mildly interesting\" 98o hand
If they're that passive that you feel you can fold a river blank, I think you should bet out on a Q. But you could probably still check/fold if a 4 hits. Personally, I'd make a crying call for one bet here though on about any river. The pot is huge. And loose passive players I've seen play AA/KK as EP has here.

Oops, I meant to say bet/fold on a Q, I'll edit my post now.

Re: a \"mildly interesting\" 98o hand
Yeah, and I do agree with c/c if the 4 hits. I think we have the two opponents on the same hands here but a 4 would obviously make one of them unlikely enough to make the call I guess. So I can't argue. On the other hand, if there's enough of a chance of a naked Q or AA/KK from either opponent to c/c a 4 then I would argue that you shouldn't be folding this river under any circumstances unless a Q falls.

Re: a \"mildly interesting\" 98o hand
So they're both really that passive? If so then yeah. Totally a judgement call on your part. But yeah I think it's either what you say or call a blank. Either you're 89 has a chance to be good unimproved or it doesn't and an 89orQ are the only cards that change that if it doesn't.

Re: a \"mildly interesting\" 98o hand
Check-folding a 4? Eep. What are we putting them on? 44? Q8? Can they limp QQ here? I can't see folding if a 4 hits when only a couple hands beat me, even with our description of the players. Make me smarter though, please.
