Re: How to play these Aces? PL$200
I think this type of hand is extremely underrated. It's a 56% fav over A234 (no suits--it's a dog against double suited that you don't have) I'd prefer to see a flop with this hand though. The fact it can't make a low isn't important unless you're allin preflop with it. Three low cards and you lost nothing more.
Any two high card flops and that low draw shouldn't be chasing his hand (but yet I see them do it sometimes lol) That and some people won't believe you have AA if you don't raise with it. So it adds a little value when you get that player set over set. |

By your own admission, you're a favorite here against almost every hand, and specifically every hand that isn't a better AA hand. So, why would you not want to stick it all in PF when you are a favorite? That's what poker is all about, gettin in the money with an edge.....regardless of whether it's 1% or 80%.

Raise all-in. If the other fellow has an AA with a low card whatsoever you'll be an underdog, to all other hands you are a favourite. With the money you've already invested it's correct to raise all even to a AA23 ds hand, but that is very unlikely holding for your opponent. A crystal clear all-in.

You will be a dog to almost any hand that has decent straight potential and 2 low cards. yes, but that is a very unlikely holding, who would go all in with such a crap hand?

yes, but that is a very unlikely holding, who would go all in with such a crap hand? [/ QUOTE ] The point is that most hands with 2 low and decent straight or flush potential will be a favorite over OPs hand. He will often not be the favorite (and when he is it will be a tiny favorite) and often going to be a dog with the possibility of being a pretty big dog. You indicated that he is favorite over anything but a better AA hand, which simply isn't true. |

Re: How to play these Aces? PL$200
My experience that players who like to raise or reraise preflop either have a high (KKJTs), a low (A2xxs) or AAxx (lesser chance cause you already have two of the Aces). People just don't play T987 or 2345 because the hands they're most likely up against (or atleast mostly fear), KKA2, A23x or AA with any low card, are big favourites aginst those straights.

Re: How to play these Aces? PL$200
I don't think you should have reraised when it comes to you. There are good aces hands and there are bad aces hands. You have a bad aces hand (a good one basically has a wheel card along with the aces). The only way you are in good shape is if he is a recent holdem convert that thinks any KKxx or QQxx is worth getting the whole stack in. Unfortunately you are not far enough behind to fold. See how this aces hand does against a fairly weak A2 hand:
http://twodimes.net/h/?z=1391150 pokenum -mc 500000 -o8 ah qh kh ac - as 2s 7d jh Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 500000 sampled boards cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV Ac Ah Kh Qh 162443 342450 156140 1410 0 0 0 0.506 As 2s 7d Jh 156140 156140 342450 1410 266877 0 0 0.494 You are a tiny favorite. Look at how you come out against a strong A2 hand: http://twodimes.net/h/?z=1391159 pokenum -mc 500000 -o8 ah qh kh ac - as 2s 4d 5d Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 500000 sampled boards cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV Ac Ah Kh Qh 170592 293050 206950 0 0 0 0 0.464 As 2s 5d 4d 206950 206950 293050 0 271615 0 0 0.536 Here you are a small dog. You are piling in chips where you are probably only a coinflip best case to win. Let see how you do if he has a strong aces hand: http://twodimes.net/h/?z=1391160 pokenum -mc 500000 -o8 ah qh kh ac - as 2s ad 5d Omaha Hi/Low 8-or-better: 500000 sampled boards cards scoop HIwin HIlos HItie LOwin LOlos LOtie EV Ac Ah Kh Qh 75463 104114 157662 238224 0 0 0 0.352 As 2s Ad 5d 157662 157662 104114 238224 252359 0 0 0.648 Now you are pretty big dog and got almost all of your money in. Most reraises are from aces, so this is a very likely scenario. Still, you probably have to call, but you did this to yourself by raising a weak AA hand. You will rarely be far ahead with AAQK and you may be in trouble, so take a flop here. I will often raise from late position with the weak aces hands, but I am not looking to reraise or put in a ton of money. Your hand is a 1 way high only hand, so you should prefer seeing a flop. |
