JJ hand, tossed on the turn
mucks 10-20. must move game. Great game. Lots of casual players who talk like wannabes.
I open with JJ, Folded to LP/button who 3 bets promptly. 2 to the flop. LP is a conservative guy. Passive in many ways. Flop: 9 high monotone. I don't have one. Check, bet, call Turn: some blank Check, bet, I fold. b |

Mean he couldn't have AKo with the A of trump? [/ QUOTE ] He wouldn't have bet the turn with that hand. Big bets scare conservos if they don't have a made hand of some sort. b |

Would you say his range is AA-TT then? [/ QUOTE ] Consider what a conservo/passive player is likely to 3 bet preflop with. You really think he'd do that with TT or AQ? b |

Consider what a conservo/passive player is likely to 3 bet preflop with. You really think he'd do that with TT or AQ? b [/ QUOTE ] AQ = NEVER! TT isn't unthinkable. But if you know his range of hands he would bet the turn with is QQ-AA, seems like an easy play, with only 1.5 outs. |

Re: JJ hand, tossed on the turn
There no way he plays AK like this, especially given your flop check?
I bet out on the flop, especially if his calling, rather than raising, would indicate AK. You're making a very specific read, which I think is great if justified but pretty bad otherwise. |

I bet out on the flop, especially if his calling, rather than raising, would indicate AK. [/ QUOTE ] This player, like many others on the table, very likely might not actually 3 bet AK preflop. Especially into an EP raiser. This is w/o factoring in my image. Remember his description. [ QUOTE ] You're making a very specific read, which I think is great if justified but pretty bad otherwise [/ QUOTE ] This is one reason I love live play over online play. Though you can get this read online at times. b |

And yes, I agree c/folding is correct, but only if you really KNOW (or are 90% certain, say) that your hand really is beat. That's why I said that I thought the play was great if he could trust is read. |
