Hi,
They opened the first texas holdem table in Bulgaria recently and the casino allows players a "technique" I've never seen online. The player UTG may raise blind (without looking at his cards). Then if there are callers to his raise and the action comes to him again, he is allowed to look at his cards and RAISE AGAIN even though everybody has only called and noone has raised. In effect, this amounts to a voluntary third blind in the game. Is there such a practice in US casinos or is it a strict Bulgaian invention? If yes, how is it called in english? The guys playing in the casino have been playing together in a home game and used this rule but I cannot understand why the casino should allow it. Thanks for the information. |

Sounds like some people in Bulgaria need to be kicked in the nuts.

There was probably one straddler every orbit or so when I played at Foxwoods last weekend. One guy in particular was fond of the UTG straddle, and it's hard to blame him when it gets half the table to limp for $4 and then he gets to act last and raise all the idiots out.
I saw it a few times in NYC. I seem to recall reading here that New Jersey doesn't allow straddling. |

[/ QUOTE ] There is no advantage to straddling and I have yet to see anyone make a convincing point for why it's a good thing to do. But anyway, were these people really limping for $4 and then folding with all that money in the pot when the straddler raised? If so, your description of them as idiots does not even do justice to their stupidity. [ QUOTE ] I seem to recall reading here that New Jersey doesn't allow straddling. [/ QUOTE ] Some counties in Wyoming have also passed anti-straddling laws. |
