Questions about my play
Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (7 handed) converter
Preflop: Hero is MP1 with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 1 fold, Hero raises, 2 folds, Button calls, 1 fold, BB calls. Turn: (4.75 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (3 players) BB checks, Hero checks, Button checks. River: (4.75 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) BB checks, Hero checks, Button bets, BB folds, Hero raises, Button ...... Is that a good play? I've been having questions on when to slowdown with my overcards. On this hand when I checked the turn the button had his autofold/check button hit as he checked immediately. I checked to him on the river planning to fold if the big blind called and raise if he folded. Is this good thinking or should I have just called? Thanks |

Re: Questions about my play
I just call his river bet.
When the turn got checked through, you were basically telling him you had high cards. A lot of the time, he's gonna show you a small pair and take down the cheese. bill |

On this hand when I checked the turn the button had his autofold/check button hit as he checked immediately. [/ QUOTE ] You can't know this for sure. I'm not referring to the timing - I'm referring to the possibility that he may have had the auto-check-only button checked. It looks like an auto-check-fold but, in reality, he was leaving himself the option to call or raise if someone had bet. |

Also...
check-raising the river w/A-high and no-read = chip spewing. FWIW - I don't think the pot's big enough even if you did have a read. |

Re: Questions about my play
He was a pretty bad player. I'd seen him call each street and then fold to river bet before. I think calling is better but I thought I had him beat and wanted to use this to get an unpredictable table image.
Anyone think I should have bet the turn? |

Re: Questions about my play
what hand are you trying to represent here? this checkraise is about as believable as alien vs. predator.

FPS [/ QUOTE ] I agree. Thought with my read it was ok this hand. And checkraising is fun. But looking back he only calls if he beats me. |
