Calling a SB raise from the BB multiway
Sometimes I find myself a little unsure when this situation occurs. You're in the BB, there are a few (3+) limpers, and the SB raises. You're getting good odds, but you'll have extremely poor position and someone might limp reraise.
So, what range of hands do you call with in the BB? How does your range change depending on what type of player the SB is? (Assume there's a mix of limpers, but mostly not good.) |

Re: Calling a SB raise from the BB multiway
You'll have extremely good position postflop if you hit. The problem comes when you hit the board so hard that you want your opponents to stay in with draws.
Generally speaking, in this scenario I'm calling with almost any 2 suited regardless of who the SB is. Against all but the most aggro SBs I'm tossing any unsuited ace other than AK/AQ (I'll toss AQ if the SB is passive preflop). I'll generally call with unsuited connectors KQ-T9. I'll call with any pocket pair. My range doesn't change much depending on how passive or aggressive the SB is preflop, because the pot odds don't change either. If I believe I have good enough implied odds to continue, I'm obviously going to see the flop even if I know for a fact that SB is holding AA. |
