No, never avoid maniacs. And your story clearly shows why.
And yes, there is luck in poker.

Are you trying Ed Miller's shortstack theory buying in for that little?

Maybe you should switch tables when you double up so you don't have to worry about these suckouts for your whole stack and then rebuy for only 25 BB.

The site is not rigged. Someone makes these claims everyday on 2+2 and they are usually ridiculed to no end. A 2 outer has to occur sometime, it's not an insane probability that this would occur.

Let's say you have a roulette wheel with 25 numbers on it and you bet on 13 every single time and only on 13. It should hit about once every 25 times, right? But sometimes you'll put your money on the 13 and it won't hit 1 out of 200 times.

You are right in that you can lose a lot of money against maniacs faster than you could if you were playing against a World Class expert, but you can also make more money off of them then anyone else. If you aren't properly bankrolled and there is a maniac in the game you should just leave.

Sometimes you have to avoid maniacs in poker.

I once played with one live. After having won his money, he forced me to give them back, calling it a "loan". He was quite big.

Maniacs increase your variance. If your bankroll is small, this variance can bust you.
