do you believe in karma?
I don’t. but I wish I did. It would help have helped me sleep better this week.
The Dalai Lama is giving a speech here in Austin. The tickets to the event were free and people camped out overnight in order to get the tickets to see him. People are now selling the tickets as high as $179. I don’t have any real interest in going I just find trying to scam a buck off the Dalai Lama to be in poor taste. maybe karma does exist and these people will break their pinkies playing basketball. or maybe theyre just enterprising young fellows who know how to make an honest dollar. Either way, I’d like to snap their pinkies myself. Not quite in the spirit of the Dalai Lama but then again, I don’t have $179 to hear his lecture. bwana |

Re: do you believe in karma?
wow!!! that's pretty shitty of people! I don't believe in Karma, but that doens't make it any more morally right or less illegal to sell tickets for more than they were originally purchased for.

Re: do you believe in karma?
The legality of scalping tickets depends on the state.
I think it's morally wrong to let some yuppie keep his money if he wants to go see the Dali Lama. That whole craze is a Hollywood construct for people with more money than sense. |

Why is this morally wrong? [/ QUOTE ] Selling stuff for more than cost? Think, man - where would it end?! You'd have people all over the place buying and selling stuff, trying to make a profit!! |

[/ QUOTE ] generally "stuff" is sold above cost if there is actually a service being provided. it's a hard pill to swallow going from $0 to $179 to see His Holiness who is speaking for free. |

Why is this morally wrong? [/ QUOTE ] actually the op said "poor taste" which I don't necessarily disagree with. babyblues talked about the morality of it. it's definitely not immoral in my view. |
