AK on the bubble
This is my fist post at the MTT forum. I usually play S&G, so be gentile I played my first MTT today, a 10$ at Primapoker, in which I got eliminated at the bubble (14th of 130). I was shortstacked for about 2 hours; living on bluffs only since I was getting bs cards. Ironically I went out the hand after I got a descent stack (by representing a flush ). I dont have the hand history, but the situation was simple: A couple of medium/small tight stacks limped to me in middle position where I raised 6 bb (high blinds) with AK and the bigstackmoron on the botton pushes. And I call with my remaining 8 BB. His dominated bs ace wins and I get eliminated. Did I play this wrong or was I unlucky? Should I fold everything when the bigstacks are left to act (given that they are donks) when close to the money? Or do I gamble for first?(30% for fisrt, 20 for sekond). Im sorry that im not posting the handhistory (failed to get it)so if there is any importent info i missed out on let me know. However it seems like a basic situation and a noob question. |

Re: AK on the bubble
No, you played it correct. I'm not much of a SNGer, but in a multi, you should be willing to go bust on the bubble if you can get a good enough stack to win (or at least go deep) in the tournament. It sucks that he hit, but I definitely go broke with AK there every time.

Re: AK on the bubble
I think they where 500-1000, and I had about 14000.
2 limped (about t8000 and t12000)in and I made it 6000. I was thinking about pushing right of, but had a feeling that would seem weaker and induce a call by the limpers pocketpairs (I dont know if that makes any sence , but I tend to put pushers on AK at this stage in S&Gs). I wanted to represent an overpair and was hoping to se a weak call which would fold to my "any flop push". |

Re: AK on the bubble
Big stack isn't necessarily making a huge mistake because he could potentially get hands like 22 thru 77 or something like AJ to fold w the "bubble fear". That said I would prob push after the limpers but that's just me.

Re: AK on the bubble
You played it well.
I personally would have put all my money to the center after the limpers, but I like how you played it too. Tough luck, but that's poker. |
