AA, How to get more from a LAG raiser?
I got this hand from PGA71's Aruba WPT trip report:
Hero stack = 14K. 100 antis w/ 400-800 blinds. Hero picked up AA at UG+1. UTG (LAG) raises to 2,500 and has 9K left behind. what is the best way to isolate and pot commit UTG player? |

I think I would make it 6k total, but pushing seems very reasonable also

Re: AA, How to get more from a LAG raiser?
I'm not sure whether a reraise to 5-6K or a push would have a higher chance of getting a call from UTG or some other player with a high pair or a good ace.
Assuming all the players are solid, thinking players, heres what each could look like to them. - If you push, it could seems like more of an isolation move (signaling JJ/QQ/AK, hands you'd like to take against a LAG but would rather not have others involved) - If you reraise to 5-6K, it could be more of a steal against the LAG, hoping that he folds but its alright if he doesnt (AQ/AJ/TT/99, maybe) or it could be a value reraise hoping for a call (AA/KK) Either move is cool in my book, but i'd go for the 5-6K reraise, hoping that UTG or someone else reads you for a weaker hand than you actually have and takes his AK/QQ/JJ to war with you. |

No way are you going to trick anyone into thinking it's a steal. I say push into a LAG, if he's a thinking player at all he knows you're likely to get it all in on the flop anyway.

Re: AA, How to get more from a LAG raiser?
I would base my decision on the opponent.
If the opponent is loose, I would push. If the opponent is tight, I would raise to 5-6k. If I don't know much about the opponent, I would raise to 5-6k. |
