Should I prefer hourly change or raked hands?
Two different card clubs in my area have two different ways of taking money from NL games.
LC charges $7 per half hour. CG takes $4 per pot. I am a good winning player – which club will maximize my winrate? How much impact does my playing style have on this? --Greg |

I hate time charge, then again, if you win two pots in a half hour (which doesnt always happen), time charge is better.

Re: Should I prefer hourly change or raked hands?
I think the question comes down to almost exactly this: are you going to win more than 3.5 hands/hr? If you figure a live NL game gets off 30 hands/hr, your fair share is 3 hands/hr, and your tight playing style means you will win less than this. This point goes to CG. You would expect to pay around $12/hr at CG, and $14/hr at LC.
Another point is how much money is the house taking off the table. At LC it's $140/hr. At CG it is $4x, where x is hands/hr. With my 30 hands/hr number (I think this is about right, but others will know better than me) this is $120/hr. I say CG is better. |
