TPFAP
I am a winning ring game player, and have decieded to try tournaments. Of course before I start I bought Tournament Poker for Advanced Players. In TPFAP Sklansky suggest, that if you have AJ, and the flop come Ace high, you should go into a defensive shell and just check and call. Did I read this correct? In a tournament are you not worried about protecting your hand?

Re: TPFAP
I'm not sure you're representing the book accurately, but generally in a tournament if a flop comes ace high and I have AJ and someone else appears ready to play with me, I'm pretty worried.
Consider this. In a tournament if you have T1000, winning T1000 isn't as good as losing T1000 is bad. Losing chips when you're outkicked is generally worse than wining the same amount of chips when you outkick someone. Therefore, you need to be really worried about kicker trouble. Should you go into a shell? Depends on the situation. |

Re: TPFAP
play small-ball, keep the pot small with only a pair.
