Can anybody speculate as to why poker sites insist on restricting the amount of characters you can use in your username when signing up?

Im guessing that one reason might be that they want to restrict people from advertising their sites. myaffiliatewebsitedotcom doesnt seem to be less then 12 letters.... the only problem with my argument is that with a url of 6 letters or less you can get away with it. just a thought

It is pretty annoying when you want to use 12 letters, and they dont allow it. Just as well I am not the fickle sort that cries when I can't get to use the name I want.

When did you add the "diamond" back?
You wouldnt have a 12 character problem if you just left it off. rJ |

A few weeks ago. People kept referring to me as that, so I decided to be cool with it and reinstate it.
12 characters is not too much to ask surely! Simon |

Yeah, but if they let you do 12, then what if someone wants 13? Come on, that's only one away from 12, but then 14 is only one away from 13...Come on man, he got to do 14, I should be able to do 15, well, 16 is only one away from 15...as much fun as I'm having writing this, I'm done now.

from a non-computer geek, my guess would have been that there is a limit to how much the little avatar can display when you are seated. ![]() |

Well, Pacific limits it to 8 characters. I had to drop the "g" on the end.
