Raising in the blinds with 109o?????????????
Hello, I am a 2+2 reader that finally found his way to this forum. I play .50/1.00 and 1/2 (6 handed tables mostly) on poker stars. I have been noticing people raising with 109o in the blinds when there are 4+ people in the hand.
My question is, why are people doing this? Do they do this to build a big pot so that they have enough pot odds to chase with any kind of a straight draw? Maybe to fool people into believing they must have AA? It's frustrated the crap out of me because I just lost a big pot where i had a set of 7's and a guy had 10 9 and was betting it straight foward like he had over pocket pair. Board was 8 5 6 (rainbow flop)7 on turn. 2 on river. Rainbow board. Guy leads into me on flop, I raise with 77. he leads into me again on turn so i cap off the betting. He checks the river, I bet, he calls (i have to have the best hand huh?). Nope, he turns over 109o. This was on poker stars 1/2. Is there any known book out there that tells you to raise with 910o in the blinds? |

Re: Raising in the blinds with 109o?????????????
he either misclicked, or is a maniac. raising from the blinds with t9o is -ev because most of the limpers hands are better.

most people don't play according to books. You can't let bad play frustrate you, without it there would be little to gain.

Re: Raising in the blinds with 109o?????????????
Well yes I do understand most people are morons. But the thing that's bothering me is that this is not the 1st time I've seen it done. It's like a bug that's going around poker stars.
People raising with 109o in the blinds when several people already posted bb. what's funny is that I've seen it work quite a few times. I guess I'll just have to keep playing my game and pray someone doesnt suck me out! lol |

Re: Raising in the blinds with 109o?????????????
Judging from you post, the player in this hand was obviously an idiot. He check-called you on the river with the nuts - not the play you would see from a good player.

#1: Okay he raised T9o from the blinds.
#2: Then he check/called you on the river with the nuts. We know that #2 ain't right, so I highly doubt that #1 is. Brad |

Re: Raising in the blinds with 109o?????????????
This book said T9o is not bad.
You are going to make money from them in a long run. If everyone plays by the book, the only one make money will be pokerroom or the guys stop reading any books. |
