I want a unique pet
No cats, no dogs, no birds, probably not fish.
I'd prefer something somewhat quiet, yet entertaining with tons of bonus points if practically everyone who sees my pat has to ask what it is. I'd like to keep the final price tag under $1000 w. cage and everything included. Any ideas? |

Don't get a ferret. They smell horrible, even after you remove their scent glands. And they'll crap and piss in every corner of your house.
You said no birds, but I think a male and female canary would be cool. Then you could hear the male singing to the female all of the time. Or maybe a hedgehog. |

Or maybe a hedgehog. [/ QUOTE ] These guys are pretty friendly, girls like them, and from what I here they're fairly low maitenance. Not too cuddly though. |

How about a vampire bat?
It'd be a good talking point, and you could let it out when guests have overstayed their welcome. |
