Playing high/drunk
What are some typical tendencies of players that play poker while under the influence of
a) marijuana? b) alcohol? |

Re: Playing high/drunk
a) tight passive
B) loose aggressive thatīs my personal tendency and i think it fits to most players. it depends on individual tolerance. |

Re: Playing high/drunk
I'd agree with weed making you tight and alcohol making you loose, but I think the passive/aggressive characteristics are player-dependent, as I've seen both sides from both drugs.

I saw a guy fold fold JJ to a check raise all in on a board of 3 J A rainbow. The guy that moved on was extremely LAG too. The guy who folded was stoned.

Re: Playing high/drunk
I dont drink a whole lot, but when I do start drinking at the casino I cant seem to get drunk NEARLY as fast as if im in a bar or just hanging out. I dont know why. I have to have a drink or two just to keep me from bouncing my leg up and down sitting there waiting.
Pot is a different monster. Evryone reacts different with this. I can say from many long long years that if you're a habitual stoner then at most you'll keep your buzz an hour...most likely much less. If anything it relaxes me enough so I dont pull in all the other stresses into my game...work, relationships....ect. If you dont smoke often...then no it is a really bad idea to blaze-play. |

Re: Playing high/drunk
Alcohol makes me loose-aggressive. Preflop standards? What are those? I check-raise more often (with nothing) and raise weak draws.
I had a ridiculous drunken idea to play like a maniac until someone asked what I was doing. I'd tell them I was drunk, and then tighten up when they started playing back at me. It was surprisingly effective. |

Re: Playing high/drunk
Alcohol: caused me to be sitting with 1150BB at an NL50 6max table one time. Also cost me 9 buyins in a single session of 50NL 6max.
Weed: I did a ton of my SNG grinding stoned this summer and my results were quite impressive. I think this affects your play way less. |

Re: Playing high/drunk
Alcohol definitely makes you loose, and lose concentration in general. I play fine while stoned, generally tight, and maybe sometimes a little too passive.
