AK Hitting A or K by the river 50%?
Does that go for every hand? Does 67 hit a 6 or a 7 if it goes to the river, theoretically? If not, what makes it more likely or less likely than AK?

Yes, AK is just as likely as 67 to pair at least one of its cards.

Re: AK Hitting A or K by the river 50%?
No, the Aces are more likely to come out because they only have one Pip on them and use less ink to print them, so they are lighter. A card like 6 or 7 has a lot of Pips to form the 6 or 7, a lot more ink, so they are heavier and tend to float down to the bottom of the deck and never see the flop. Seriously, a 76 is just as likely to appear on the board as an AK. But look what happens when 76 meets AK: If both a 6 or 7 appears along with an A or K - the AK hand wins. If neither a 6 or 7 appears and a A or K doesn't appear - the AK hand wins. The 76 hand only wins when a 6 or 7 appears, and a A or K doesn't - about 25% of the time. So that is why you usually raise with AK and fold 67. |
