Did Ernie mess this up?
Ernie and I have been up all night, among other things, playing online poker. The game has been loose and somewhat aggressive. We argued a lot about this one.
Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (10 handed) converter Preflop: Ernie is BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. UTG calls, UTG+1 calls, 2 folds, MP2 calls, 2 folds, Button calls, SB complets, Ernie checks. Flop: (6.00 SB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (6 players) SB checks, Ernie checks, UTG checks, UTG+1 bets, MP2 folds, CO raises, SB folds, Ernie calls, UTG calls, UTG+1 calls. Turn: (7.00 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (4 players) Ernie checks, UTG checks, UTG+1 checks, CO bets, Ernie calls, UTG folds, UTG+1 folds. River: (9.00 BB) A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) Ernie bets Thanks in advance, Bert. |

Re: Did Ernie mess this up?
Bert, you should have mentioned that the CO has been playing really aggressively.

funny thread
i think the call on the flop is terrible and the call on the turn is bad. ernie is clearly beaten and has maybe 5 outs and no odds to call (on both streets). |

Re: Did Ernie mess this up?
I'm really interested to figure out who is behind this coalition of Sesame Street posters. I'd not be surprised at all of it were some bunch of experienced posters starting a whole slew of gimmick accounts, or alternately if it was all one person with some serious psychological issues to work out.
Getting 7.5-2 with 4 clean outs and 3 very, very tenuous ones, I can't think calling the flop is ever correct here. In fact I think it really, really sucks. |

Re: Did Ernie mess this up?
Wow. I always pegged Ernie as weak tight.
River bet is OK...but you should never have called 2 cold on the flop. What do you do if Snuffleufugus re-raises you? |

You think the river bet is okay because you think I have the best hand now? But how is that consistent with folding on the flop? |

Re: Did Ernie mess this up?
You need to fold the flop facing to bets and holding nothing but a gutshot. You can't even be sure your ace is good if it does hit. You simply do not have the odds to stay in the hand.
Same goes for the turn. If you believe the ace is going to win the hand for you on the river, and that the CO is really aggressive, why not check raise instead of donk betting? |
