Do you EVER open limp ANYTHING? (Survey)
Do you EVER open limp ANYTHING?
If yes, what hand, what position, what kind of table and opponents, what limit(s)? Comments preferred, but here's a poll to make it easy. |

Re: Do you ever open limp anything?
22-55 UTG at loose passive tables. That's pretty much it.
Edit: And I open complete a fair amount of trash against loose passive opponents to "steal" on the flop. |

I open limp a bunch of different hands in a bunch of different positions against a bunch of different opponents at a bunch of different limits.

If im playing a guy who raises everything (ie a Maniac) I will limp with QJs or something (good but not great) and then he will take care of my raise for me. Otherwise no.

I usually just auto-click the raise button without thinking enough about it....but I do think limping could be better here. As I mentioned in the 'UTG' poll, I will limp with T9s through 87s UTG or even MP on the right tables (and at the right times...referring to my image there). One benefit I've noticed with limping is that it can be similar to being in the big-blind. When you raise, your opponents might not give you much respect when you bet on a low-ragged flop (852) because they just figure that you're on over-cards. When you limp or are in the big-blind then they figure you could have almost anything...so if you are betting you must have paired the board. They are more likely to get out of your way if they missed completely in a smallish pot. I'm a 27/23 type player who is trying to work more limping/calling into my game. |

Re: Do you EVER open limp ANYTHING? (Survey)
I frequently limp Q10s,J10s,109s,77-55 if I think I will get 1-2 players who limp behind and the blinds. I rather take this than 1 cold caller and BB with a somewhat weak hand. Is this line of thinking bad; ie am I making it easy for me but not optimizing EV.

If you bet, won't the maniac raise still, making it more likely you'll end up hu? |

Re: Do you EVER open limp ANYTHING? (Survey)
I think its better to limp if you have a good multiway hand like QJs. People are more likely to come along for the lags raise and 2 bets, oppose to your raise and the Lag's 3bet.
