So I have a TI-83. I know there are newer ones, but this is the calculator I've been using since freshman year of high school.
I have a Differential Equations exam in a couple of weeks and the professor said we could use the calculator to pump out integrals fast. Except I'm not sure how to do this. This is not a course on how to do integrals, we're already supposed to know how to do that. But the exam is designed in a way that doing the integrals the slow way is a waste of time. He's testing us on the methods of solving the differential equations, not how to do integrals. So is there anyone who can guide me through how to do this on a TI-83. For example, the integral of (x^(2)e^(x)) is solvable via integration by parts. Now what calculator function do I use to get the answer on the TI-83? Thanks. |

Are you sure? I'm inclined to believe otherwise since my prof said we're allowed to use calculators to get the integrals.

You need a ti-89 to do symbolic calculus.

You can only do numerical integration on a TI-83, it cant give you the general solution. In order to do it, hit "math" then the ninth option "fnint"
The syntax is: fnint(e^x,x,0,1) |

Silly silly silly... you should've got a TI-89 instead of a TI-83. 83s are for accountants.

Silly silly silly... you should've got an HP-49G instead of a TI. TIs are lame. [/ QUOTE ] And RPN is amazing. |

Ok, if I decide to shell out the money and get a TI-89 (I need a new one anyways), do you guys know how to do this on the 89?
