Default Party Poker non professional clause.

Just noticed this in Party Pokers terms and conditions.

4. Limited Use.
The Games are for entertainment only, and your participation in the Games is solely for your own personal enjoyment and non-professional use .

What exactly do they mean by this.

Don't worry about it. You're not a pro anyway.

You know I dont know how to react to that as I would definately laugh at it if it was at someone elses expense.

However Im not saying Im a Pro but as my only income is derived by poker Party and others (obviously not you oh poker guru) might.

Im not realy worried Im just curious as to what Party's motivation was in including this clause in thier terms and conditions.

wonder if it makes a minor difference for online-poker legal status in Canada, England or somewhere else.
i don't think it would be terribly helpful for the legality in the US but i really don't know.

some of those old Miss-Cleo psychic-hotline phone ads also included info that it was for 'entertainment purposes only' even though it was obvious they were trying to convince their potential customers that their readings were a bit more than just entertainment (we can see your future.....you really SHOULD take that job...etc etc).

so i suspect the party 'entertainment' clause may be for somewhat similar reasons.

but those are just guesses.

Its a standard limitation clause. It makes no difference whether you are a "professional player" or not. This clause just means you cannot make any use of these games, other than logging on and playing.

As an example, you buy the cable NFL games package. It will have almost identical language. This prevents a bar from using the package, then charging admission (there are separate licenses one has to buy for this).

Therefore, you can't be an Online Champ, and charge your friends money to watch you play Omaha8, without further permission from Party.

You seem to know your stuff.

How much will size of audeince effect the negoitations, because at the moment my size of audience is mostly limited by the informal nature by which I display my work, though I can assure you competition for tickets is fierce. Therefore I am thinking of hiring a licensced audotrioum of some kind and organizing a live multitelwebinternetcast.

Should I be upfront about this or play my hand more slowly ?

Just send them a picture of yourself. Party will feel so sorry for you, Mike and Shawn will personally set the whole thing up for you.
