98s on the Button
I recently came across this situation in a Party $22 SNG and I'd like some feedback on my play.
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t50 (7 handed) converter CO (t565) Hero (t375) SB (t597) BB (t1915) UTG (t820) MP1 (t1165) MP2 (t2563) Preflop: Hero is Button with 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 4 folds, Hero calls [t375] , 1 fold, BB calls t325. Flop: (t400) Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) Turn: (t400) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) River: (t400) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Final Pot: t400 Is this an auto-push situation or should I have waited for a better hand? My line of thought was that the SB had been playing very timidly up to this point and probably wouldn't call the bet and that even if the BB called I would probably have two live cards and the straight and flush possibilites, though afterward I wasn't so sure. Any insight is appreciated. |

Re: 98s on the Button
How soon are the blinds going up?
I don't like pushing here all that much. I'm sure you can find a better spot if the blinds aren't going up in the next hand or two. |

Re: 98s on the Button
This was the last hand of the level, so the next hand the blinds would be 50 and 100.

Re: 98s on the Button
Meh, desperation. Push and pray as long as your FE isn't blasted yet.
