My wireless connection cuts itself occasionally
Every once in a while, my wireless connection will just disconnect for about 5 seconds, then reconnect. This happens about once every 10-15 mins. I am right next to the access point so it's not a signal strength issue. Both my mom and my brother use laptops in the house and they don't have this problem. And they sit farther away than I do. Is there some setting I can change or look at that might fix this problem?

What kind of router do you have?

Re: My wireless connection cuts itself occasionally
Two things come to mind...
1) You have a 2.4Ghz cordless phone near by that is stepping on the WiFi signal and it is not close enough to the others to be a problem. 2) You are too close to the AP and are getting overloaded. Try moving the AP 5-10 feet from the PC. Of the two, #2 is more likely. |
