Am I a wuss? -- Part I
Hiya,
Online .5/1.00 -- loose but only moderately passive. Two of the relevant players are new to the table (less than 2 orbits - MP1 and SB) and new to me. Over the past orbit, I played one hand, QQ from MP, and won without showdown after betting/raising at every opportunity. I'm in the BB. I'm dealt Tc 5h. Two MP limpers, one LP limper, SB completes. I check gratefully. Flop: 2d 5s Td -- 5 players, 5 SB in pot. SB checks. I bet. MP1 raises. MP2 calls. LP folds. SB calls. I re-raise. MP1 caps. MP2, SB, and I call. Turn: [ 2d 5s Td ] Qc -- 4 players, 10 BB in the pot SB and I check. MP1 bets. MP2 calls. SB raises. I call. MP1 and MP2 call. River: [ 2d 5s Td Qc ] Ts -- 4 players, 17.75 BB in pot SB bets. I raise. MP1 re-raises. MP2 calls. SB folds. I call. Showdown: 27.5 BB, 3 players Results/commentary to follow... |

Re: Am I a wuss? -- Part I
Results:
My full house is good. MP1 had Jh Th. MP2 had Kc Qd. Commentary: Flop - After MP1's first raise, I put him on top pair or an overpair. The cold-calls could be almost anything - straight/flush draw, overcards, or a pair/two pair/slowplayed trips. After MP1's cap, I put him on an overpair, two pair, or trips. I figure the two callers are a flush draw and either two pair or trips. Turn - My first check was to check-raise to put more money in pot, as I expected MP1 to bet. The SB's check-raise surprised me, so I just called. River - MP2's cold call of 3 bets surprised me again, as the flush/straight draws didn't come, so I just called. Thanks for your time, PP |

Re: Am I a wuss? -- Part I
reraise the river because you cannot be re-raised because of the cap and probably have the best hand.

Re: Am I a wuss? -- Part I
On the river, you only lose to QQ, and QT. It seems that you can rule out QQ, because of the lack of a preflop raise. With only one possible hand out there that beats me, I am going to cap it on the river at this limit.

Re: Am I a wuss? -- Part I
I think you need to 4-bet the river. You almost certainly have MP2 beaten, and you likely have MP1 beaten as well. MP1 probably has a set or an overplayed AT. You have no real reason to think that MP1 has QT or QQ, and TT is relatively remote. Furthermore, 4-bets is the cap, so you won't be exposed to a reraise if you are beaten. MP2 might even be willing to come along for two more bets... giving you a large overlay.

TT is relatively remote

Re: Am I a wuss? -- Part I
Absolutely re-raise the river. It's much more likely MP1 has 22 or 55 than QT or QQ. Nothing makes me think MP2 has a full house. At this point, both will likely call your hand with anything they liked enough to put 3 bets into on the river.

Re: Am I a wuss? -- Part I
Just calling after the raise is fine.
