Default TAGs seem to be losing

4th day at 1/2 not a winning TAG among them. Is there even a point to using Bison rules anymore? Dont know if this is because of very small sample size or maybe those myths about 1/2 are right.

I agree 100%. As soon I realized that PF isn't the end-all, be-all of the hand and postflop is, my VPIP inched up out of moneybags range. There's no way I could play that tight now.

The original bison rules are, IMO, way off from optimal poker. I've been a smiley face for many tens of thousands of hands. Never going back.

If the dudes the OP were to post thier stats, there would probably be a resounding chorus of "you're way too tight."

Being loose preflop and an expert postflop is +ev. Just being loose preflop is going to get you in a lot of trouble. There are maybe 10 people that post regularly in ML that could get away with a vpip >20 at .5/1 and 1/2 (I do consider myself one of them, yes) and be profitable. Most of the time you'd just be leaving money on the table. While you're still learning, do not loosen up preflop. That comes later.

My .5/1 vpip was not quite 24.

I only had about 6k hands at .5/1 but I was winning at a very strong <~6BB/100. I realize the sample is small, but I definitely felt in charge of the game.

1/2 I'm playing the same way and having a tougher time though. I'm trying to settle down to a safer 21%ish.

I'll put the over/under for 'percentage of posters on this board who think this to be true of themselves' at 85%.
