1. Is there a bear in the room you are in now?
No 2. Is there a flea in the room you are in now? Most likely 3. Are you sure? No 4. Is the lack of evidence proof that something is not there? No, but it is strong evidence. |

Re: questions for atheists
Question for you:
1. Do you believe there is a bear in the room right now? 2. Do you believe there is a flea in the room right now? 3. Are you sure? 4. Are you willing to annoy others endlessly until they too believe there is a bear and a flea in your room? |

Re: questions for atheists
I should change question number 3 to the following:
3. If you found a book, the contents of which consisted only of: "This book is written by the Christian God. There is a bear and a flea in your room." Would that influence your beliefs? |

Re: questions for atheists
1. Is there an invisible moose with bananas in its ears hanging from the lampshade in the room you are in now?
3. Are you sure? 4. Is the lack of evidence proof that something is not there? Do you see why this question is a better comparision than a flea? |

Re: questions for atheists
So, your point is that God is more like a flea than an invisible moose with bananas in its ears hanging from a lampshade?

Lol, sorry I can't tell if thats sarcasm
In case its not, then no, the exact opposite. We know fleas exist making them infinitely more likely to be in the room than the banana moose. |

[ QUOTE ]
1. Is there an invisible moose with bananas in its ears hanging from the lampshade in the room you are in now? [/ QUOTE ] are the bananas supposed to be invisible too, or just the moose? |

4. Is the lack of evidence proof that something is not there?
Not at all. But it's reason enough to proceed under the assumption it's not there. Imagine without having any evidence for it, you went through life believing a deadly strain of tse-tse fly were in every room you walked into. Are you better or worse off for holding this belief withough evidence? |
