Do any of you guys from Michigan know of any casino tournaments or home tournaments in the area. I know Chips Inn Casino has tournaments but its in the freakin U.P. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Little River casino in Manistee advertises NL tournaments every Mon. and Tues. The poker room there is TINY, when I was there they only had 3 tables of 4/8 LH going, and the room only holds 6 tables total. It was very well run and friendly though. Also, Soaring Eagle in Mt. Pleasant runs tournaments occasionaly. I'm not sure of the schedule.

Oops, wish I would have seen this before I made a similar post. In my defense, I searched the forums first for the word "detroit" and this post didn't show up. I didn't think to search "Michigan" as well.

http://www.metropokerclub.com/index.html I don't know if this is legit or not, ran across it a few weeks ago. jdoe [/ QUOTE ] It looks legit, but I am interested to see how they are skirting the legalities of hosting these tournaments. I mean, they attempt to explain it on the site, but is what they are saying all correct? I wasn't aware you were allowed to host poker tornaments just as long as they are not "open to the public". When searching for a game, I just thought I would find something that needed to be kept on the down-low... but a legit game run by what seems to be professionals would be a great find. |

I will be there too. I think they said it starts at 10 AM with a 50 buy in! If you have any other info, like how many chips you start with, please let me know.

I sent in an application and was accepted. I then sent them an Email to ask how many members they had and he said 200+. Sounds decent enough but I am very leary of the unknown. I was robbed at a homegame that I found listed on the internet for 1300 dollars. Hope this is legit.

I might have to check out that tournament at Soaring eagle as well. Sounds like fun.
I also just joined the Metro Poker Club. The legalities almost sounds right in my mind. If it's not public, it's really not any different than a home game or one at an Elk's club or something. Definitely post again or send me a PM for anyone going to the Soaring Eagle tournament. I'd love to meet some of you guys before we make it to the final table, hehe. |
