Twilight Zone on Party 1/2
Submitted for your approval, in the cutoff, drudman holds AQo. The table is incredibly wild. UTG doubles the blind to 4, two clowns call. I decide to raise here to either scoop the bets right there or to isolate against one of the clowns who are most likely playing Ax or some kind of KJ, QJ, etc.
I raise 2x the pot to 20, which I think is enough to keep from being flat called by all three of them. To my alarm, all three call the 20 and go to the flop. I am quite sure that I have just about the best hand at the table. I have to figure UTG for a small pair maybe, but any of them would reraise all in with AK AA or KK for sure. I decide that if I hit a TPTK I'm going to tap. UTG: $80 Clown: $400 Superclown: $60 Me: $80 Flop comes A35 rainbow, which I love. UTG thinks for awhile, checks. Superclown taps for 60, I have 80. Other clown folds, it's up to me now. I decide that this joker has a weaker ace, and I call. UTG folds. Turn J, river Q for my top two pair. Superclown turns over 24c for the lowball wheel. Hands shaking, drudman leaves the table, wondering if he is dreaming, or just another casualty of... the Twilight Zone. |

Re: Twilight Zone on Party 1/2
42 is an evil hand. Every time the board would help a 42 hand you can bet that someone is holding 42 and you should just fold.

Re: Twilight Zone on Party 1/2
Try raising next time you get 42c. The last two times I've gotten it I've made 2 pair. Although, one did get beat by a fluke straight, it is an unbelievably powerful hand.

Re: Twilight Zone on Party 1/2
these are limit hands though
it's possible to bet the "straight" guy off the hand in no limit (on some sites and definitely not this hand if it was party) - i.e. 24s is more powerful in no limit i've been winning with a lot of low cards recently, i'm playing about as many as normal but they're hitting more than my high cards... i'm getting the feeling that my table image is actually changing... well, for the moment anyway - hopefully i can take advantage of it |

Re: Twilight Zone on Party 1/2
Yah, welcome to the wonderfull world of internet poker.
By the Way, I would never play A Q so quickly, I meen really, it's not like AQ o has such a big edge over 2 4 s hey? If you don't have a [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] then your about 60% to the river. If you get called by 2 players, say other player has K J o, you are now only 40% to river. I try to play more patiently than that, and wait for QQ or better before I jack up the pot against the maniacs pre flop. Last month I had QQ in LP, and UTG mainiac bets $10, and another maniac makes it $30, I go All in for $100, UTG folds, then the 2nd mainiac thinks for a long time, and then calls with 45s. And QQ won, go figure. Aeon Blues |

Re: Twilight Zone on Party 1/2
Right, well like I said my primary motive was to steal, as I had good reason to believe that the loose clowns would fold to a serious bet.

Re: Twilight Zone on Party 1/2
Why not just push in before the flop?

Re: Twilight Zone on Party 1/2
pushing all in preflop is a bad idea here.. the only hands that would call him would be favorites over him.. well.. i've seen some silly stuff on party like calling huge all ins preflop with T9s, .. but that's not typical.
if you're in a NL100 game on party and you push in preflop with AQo, you're only gonna be called by pocket pairs and AK. |
